Gatehouse School was founded on Christian values and principles, and while these still form the backbone of school life, an appreciation of different cultures, faiths and backgrounds are encouraged throughout the school.  To this end we incorporate religious lessons and stories within our whole-school and link assemblies, and from Year 3 each class has a weekly Religious Education lesson.

The purposes of these lessons are twofold: firstly, they provide children with a bank of knowledge about a number of different worldwide faiths, their beliefs and cultures; and secondly it gives our pupils the opportunities to discuss the moral and ethical questions that religion raises, and gain an understanding of the place that religion has in the modern world and the importance it holds in many people’s lives.
