Here at Gatehouse School our pupils have one ICT lesson each week in our ICT suite, led by a dedicated Computer Science teacher. These lessons work in partnership with the other subjects to allow cross-curricular links between the topics they cover in other lessons, for example children studying polls and percentages in maths are likely to backup their learning in ICT lessons with data analysis and graph plotting using spreadsheets, or link work in Science with internet research and presentation skills. Pupils from Year 3 and up have their own school Google accounts for collaborative digital working.

The Gatehouse School ICT curriculum aims to give pupils the chance to experience a wide variety of computing and computer literacy skills.  As well as experimenting with and mastering several key programs and platforms, each year children cover a unit of computer programming to introduce them to the language and logic of computers – learning the about simple and algorithms in Key Stage 1 and creating their own computer games and coding their own maths teaching resources in Key Stage 2 using Scratch and Python.
