Gatehouse School offers a wide range of musical tuition taught throughout the school day by specialist teachers.
We currently offer lessons for:
- Drum kit
- French Horn
- Orchestral Percussion
Individual lessons are 30 minutes long and will usually be scheduled once per week. Lessons take place between 8.30am and 5.30am. These are arranged on a rota basis to ensure that pupils do not miss the same lesson twice in a row.
Pupils who learn a musical instrument in school also have the opportunity to sit ABRSM Grade Exams at Gatehouse. These optional exams take place termly.
Lessons are booked in blocks of ten sessions across the whole term and will be invoiced in advance, although there may be more or less depending on the length of term. Should a pupil be absent due to illness or non-attendance, then the lessons will be invoiced as normal. If the pupil is participating in a school-approved activity, such as an educational visit or a sporting fixture, the teacher will try their best to rearrange the lesson. Failing this, the lesson will not be invoiced.
Should you wish to stop individual music lessons, a half-term’s notice in writing is required.
For more information on the instruments available or to book a session please contact our School Office who will be able to put you in touch with the Head of Music. A downloadable booking form is available in our Parents’ Area.
