Entry to Nursery
The main point of entry to Gatehouse School is our Nursery class. Children join in September, following their third birthday, and typically progress into Reception the following September.
As children attending our Nursery normally move directly into Reception, Reception places for external applicants are limited and subject to availability. Families interested in Reception entry are encouraged to contact our Admissions Team to discuss the waiting list.
Nursery Admissions by Academic Year
- September 2026: Children born between 1 September 2022 and 31 August 2023
- September 2027: Children born between 1 September 2023 and 31 August 2024
- September 2028: Children born between 1 September 2024 and 31 August 2025
- September 2029: Children born between 1 September 2025 and 31 August 2026

Occasional Places
Although Nursery is our main point of entry, places occasionally become available in other year groups throughout the school.
These are known as occasional places and are offered subject to availability.
If you are considering joining Gatehouse in Reception or Years 1–6, please contact our Admissions Manager to enquire about current vacancies and the application process.
