At Gatehouse School we believe in giving all pupils, irrespective of their academic or physical ability, the opportunity to discover and develop their physical potential through a balanced and well developed programme of activities.

In the Upper Juniors, children are given a one hour P.E. lesson and a one hour  Games lesson each week by qualified, specialist staff.  In Year 5 and 6 the pupils at Gatehouse School are given a one hour P.E. lesson and are timetabled two hours of Games each week.

From Reception to Year 4, pupils have a 30 minute swimming lesson which increases to a  45 minute swimming lesson in Years 5 and 6. These sessions are delivered by specialist swimming teachers at York Hall pool in Bethnal Green.

At Gatehouse School we currently offer netball, football, swimming, gymnastics, hockey, cross-country, athletics, cricket, badminton, basketball and trampolining.

Gatehouse School is committed to recognising the importance of physical activity outside the curriculum, and as a result we offer a wide variety of extracurricular sporting activities and arrange a large number of sporting fixtures for teams of varying ability throughout the school year. We have enjoyed a great deal of success, with individuals and teams being frequently present at area and national competitions.
