Here at Gatehouse School we aim for excellence in both performance and attitude by providing first class lessons and coaching with ample opportunities to train and compete.  We cater for all pupils and every pupil is encouraged to enjoy an interest in individual or team games whilst developing a healthy attitude to fitness and exercise.

Each week, your child will have two sessions with our qualified specialist P.E. staff, as well as a swimming session at Mile End Leisure Centre.  In Years Five and Six pupils have a 2 hour games afternoon as well as a 1 hour PE lesson and a 45 minute swimming lesson.   Alongside football, netball, cricket and basketball the children are taught badminton, cross-country, hockey, rounders, athletics, dodgeball as well as a variety of gymnastic activities.  For a full list of the P.E. kit your child will need each term, please refer to the Uniform List on our website.  All uniform is available from our stockists Khalsa Schoolwear.

Throughout the year there are a number of annual sporting events at Gatehouse, where pupils will be grouped in their Houses.  Please check the calendar to ensure of the exact dates:

• The Inter-House football will normally fall in the Autumn term.
• The Inter-House netball will normally fall in the Autumn term.
• The Swimming Gala will normally fall in the Spring term.
• The Nursery, Lower Junior and Upper Sports Days will normally fall in the Summer term.

Sporting fixtures outside of lessons play an extremely important part in Gatehouse life.  We compete in both IAPS and ISA competitions, enjoying a great deal of success in a variety of sports. We frequently have individuals and teams representing Gatehouse at area and national championships.  We also arrange regular friendly matches with other schools.   Please refer to the calendar for all upcoming fixtures.

There are a number of weekly sports clubs at lunchtime or after school, including football, dodgeball, tennis, hockey, multi-sports, netball and badminton.  Please check with the School Office for availability.
