Gatehouse Pupils Win Most Creative Project at Science Competition
Five Gatehouse pupils represented the school at the Brentwood School Science Competition, showcasing their scientific knowledge, creativity and research skills.
After weeks of investigating, experimenting and preparing their presentations, the pupils presented two projects exploring different scientific questions:
- Does exercise improve memory? – Investigating the relationship between physical activity and memory.
- Which eco-brick holds heat the best? – Exploring thermal mass and comparing the heat retention of eco-bricks made from different materials.
Throughout the competition, both teams were interviewed by several panels of judges. They confidently explained their research questions, scientific methods, findings and what they might do differently in future investigations.
Both teams impressed the judges and visitors with their knowledge, enthusiasm and ability to discuss their work. Their presentations also attracted wonderful feedback from other parents and teachers attending the event.
We are delighted that one of our Gatehouse teams was awarded the Most Creative Project prize, one of just five awards presented at the competition!
Congratulations to all five pupils for their hard work, scientific curiosity and outstanding representation of Gatehouse School. We are incredibly proud of their achievements!
