ISA North London Regional Cross Country Championships
Gatehouse School enjoyed a fantastic day at the ISA Cross Country Championships, with 16 pupils representing the school across four races and achieving some outstanding results!
Competing against strong opposition from schools across the region, our runners demonstrated exceptional determination, resilience and teamwork. Year 5 and 6 pupils tackled a challenging 2km course, while Year 3 and 4 pupils competed over 1.5km.
Outstanding Individual Performances
There were some remarkable results across all four races, with Gatehouse pupils securing several top 10 finishes.
- Year 5/6 Girls: Two pupils finished in 6th and 7th place, both qualifying for the National Championships. Our other runners achieved impressive 17th and 26th-place finishes.
- Year 5/6 Boys: An exceptional team performance saw all four runners finish inside the top 10, placing 6th, 7th, 9th and 10th. All four have qualified for the National Championships!
- Year 3/4 Girls: Two outstanding 6th and 7th-place finishes secured national qualification, while an excellent 11th-place finish earned a reserve position. Our fourth runner finished 30th.
- Year 3/4 Boys: A brilliant 4th-place finish was Gatehouse’s highest individual placing of the day! The remaining runners also performed strongly, finishing 19th, 20th and 21st.
Nine Pupils Qualify for the National Championships!
We are incredibly proud that nine Gatehouse pupils have qualified for the ISA National Cross Country Championships, taking place on Friday 12th March 2027 in Wolverhampton.
This is a fantastic achievement, particularly when competing against some much larger schools from across the region.
While the individual results are certainly worth celebrating, what impressed us most was the attitude shown by every pupil. Cross country is an incredibly demanding sport, both physically and mentally, and our runners demonstrated determination, perseverance and a willingness to push themselves right to the finish line.
There were plenty of tired legs and exhausted faces at the end, but also lots of reasons to smile!
A huge congratulations to all 16 pupils for representing Gatehouse School so brilliantly. We are extremely proud of everyone who took part and look forward to cheering on our nine national qualifiers in Wolverhampton next March!
