Gatehouse School was founded on Christian values and principles, which continue to form the backbone of school life. At the same time, we actively promote an appreciation of different cultures, faiths, and backgrounds throughout the school. To this end, religious lessons and stories are incorporated into whole-school and link assemblies, and from Year 3 onwards each class receives a weekly Religious Education lesson.
These lessons serve two main purposes. Firstly, they provide pupils with a broad understanding of a range of world faiths, their beliefs, and their cultural traditions. Secondly, they offer opportunities for pupils to explore moral and ethical questions, to reflect on the role of religion in the modern world, and to appreciate the importance it holds in many people’s lives.
