In the Upper Juniors, children take part in one hour of P.E., two hours of Games, and a weekly swimming lesson, all taught by qualified specialist staff.
In Years 3 and 4, pupils attend a thirty-minute swimming lesson each week, which increases to a forty-five-minute session in Years 5 and 6. These lessons are delivered by specialist swimming teachers at York Hall Pool in Bethnal Green.
We currently offer a wide range of sports in our Upper Junior programme, including Netball, Football, Rugby, Hockey, Cricket, Tennis, Athletics, Circuits, Cross Country, and Swimming.
Gatehouse School recognises the importance of physical activity beyond the curriculum. As such, we provide an extensive selection of extracurricular sporting clubs and arrange numerous fixtures for teams of all abilities throughout the year. We also run early-morning nurture sessions for pupils excelling in Football, Netball, Rugby, or Cross Country, as well as Early Movers—a targeted nurture group designed to support pupils in developing their fine and gross motor skills, including throwing, catching, coordination, and teamwork.
