Welcome to the Nursery at Gatehouse School

Starting Nursery is a big step for both children and their parents. At Gatehouse, we believe that play and interaction with the world around them are vital ways for young children to learn about the society in which they live. Through a rich and varied range of experiences, we aim to nurture each child’s all-round development and lay a strong foundation for future learning in our Junior School.

Our Nursery is based in New House, within the Junior playground, and includes a dedicated covered outdoor play area. Indoors, children enjoy access to a cosy reading corner, tablets, games, and resources that support early mathematical thinking and reasoning, as well as a wide selection of creative materials.

Alongside their class teacher and assistant, Nursery children benefit from specialist-taught sessions in Music, PE, Library, Dance, and French each week, ensuring a broad and balanced early years experience.

We value strong partnerships with parents and believe that home–school collaboration plays a key role in a child’s success. We are always happy to meet and talk with you about your child’s progress and development.
