Music is a high-profile and valued part of life at Gatehouse. Every pupil receives a weekly class music lesson and has the opportunity to explore and enjoy music through a wide range of activities and clubs.

Co-Curricular Opportunities

Beyond classroom learning, pupils are encouraged to join the many musical groups available at Gatehouse, including:

  • Choirs

  • Orchestras

  • Ukulele groups

  • Brass ensembles

These are led by the Head of Music and a team of skilled peripatetic instrumental teachers.

Performance Opportunities

Performance is an important part of music at Gatehouse, pupils have the opportunity to take part in several performances throughout the year. These may include:

  • Nursery Nativity plays

  • Christmas concerts

  • Solo instrumental performances in assembly

  • Year 2 and Year 6 musicals

  • Ensemble and choral concerts held each term
