The teaching of French in the Upper Juniors aims to develop the pupils’ appreciation and knowledge of France, the French language and the Francophone countries.

The Upper Junior children have two lessons each week, where every child is encouraged to extend their basic knowledge through role-play, together with repetition of everyday greetings and phrases.

The lessons are designed to focus on listening, speaking, reading and writing in French as well as developing an understanding of French culture and customs.

In addition to classroom-based learning, Year 5 children have the exciting opportunity to put their language skills into practice in real situations during the annual 3 day trip to the Opal Coast of Northern France.
