The Nursery Day

Below is an example of what a typical day in the Nursery might involve.

Registration
The Nursery day begins at 9am and finishes at 3.15pm. Before this there is the chance to meet with teachers informally and discuss your child’s progress.

09.15 – 10.00
Teacher directed activity time
Throughout the week each class has a number of lessons which are adult led. This is a time when the teacher prepares a specific literacy, communication, topic or mathematical activity to support their general learning.

10.00 – 10.50
Milk / fruit / story time / play time

10.50 – 11.45
Teacher directed activity time
As above. In addition each class has a number of lessons led by specialists. These include Dance, French, Music, P.E and Library.

11.50-12.20
Lunch time
The children go down to the school dining hall for a hot lunch.

Afternoon registration

12.45 – 13.35
Circle time
This is an opportunity for the whole of Nursery to enjoy a session together, including storytelling, French and Music sessions.

1.35 – 2.15
Child initiated activity time
The afternoon session in Nursery is less structured than the morning, with a focus on child-initiated play in our indoor and outdoor areas.

2.15 – 2.50
Art / craft / project time

2.50 – 3.00
Tidy up time

3.00 – 3.15
Story/Song time

3.15
Going home time
