School Trips & Events

Educational visits and events
There is an ever-changing roster of termly day trips and educational visits. The expecation is that each class will enjoy a balance of workshops, gallery and museum vists, author events and presentations each term. Recent occasions have included ballet at the Roya Opera House, a Victorian lesson at the Ragged School Museum and a workshop on Picasso at the Tate Britain.

There are a number of activities that are repeated annually in the Upper Juniors:

Kenwood House Autumn Ramble
For more information on this annual event please see the School Life section of the website.

Christingle service
The Christingle service at Westminster Abbey is organised in support of The Children’s Society and attended by Year 4 children. Please see the School Life section for more details.

Residential educational visits including Year 4 Bushcraft Experience, Year Five French Trip and Year Six Outward Bound Expedition.
These important educational trips develop the independence and self-confidence of pupils as they spend extended time with their peers away from home. The range of visits is designed to challenge pupils in a number of ways and each course is carefully chosen to ensure there is something guaranteed to appeal to everyone. As the children get older the length of the trip increases. The long term partnerships we have developed with the providers ensure that the children have a truly memorable time away from home and school and that teachers get to see and work with children in an entirely different context. Above all they, they return with lifelong memories of their wonderful experiences.

Nativity
The Upper Junior Nativity is the final event of the Autumn term. It is a full musical and dramtic presentation of the Christmas Story led by our Year 6 children in the key roles.

Summer play
The end of year production involves all the Upper Junior classes. Recent productions include Oliver and Bugsy Malone. The staging of the show brings the whole school community together in order to produce the sets, perform the music, rehearse the parts and stage manage the production.
