PSHE is taught by each classes’ form teacher. The aim of these lessons is to provide children with the skills, knowledge and understanding to lead confident, healthy, independent lives, now and in the future. It is an opportunity for children to reflect and develop skills that may not be discussed in other lessons: about making informed opinions; caring for themselves, others and the environment; discussing feelings and being sensitive to the feelings of others; being responsible for their own behaviour; and developing their own potential.
Due to the flexibility of its nature, PSHE lessons can take many forms. They can be focussed around group or whole-class discussions of an idea, or a teacher-led exploration of topics recently prominent in the media. They might even be term-long projects on a given subject.
