Gatehouse pupils have a dedicated slot each week in our ICT suite, led by a separate ICT teacher. These lessons work in constant partnership with the other subjects to allow cross-curricular links between the topics they cover in other lessons: children studying polls and percentages in maths are likely to back up their learning in ICT lessons with database searches and graph plotting, or link work in history with internet research skills.

The Gatehouse ICT curriculum aims to give pupils the chance to experience a wide variety of computing and computer literacy skills. As well as experimenting with and mastering several key programs and platforms, each year children also cover a unit of computer programming to introduce them to the language and logic of computers – anything from web design to creating their own computer game!
