For various reasons, children may sometimes need extra support to access certain areas of the school curriculum. Through close discussion with teachers and parents, and supported by school based observations, we identify additional needs and areas for support.
Our Inclusion Coordinator is on hand throughout to discuss the process with you. We then work towards improving identified areas through teaching to a set of individual targets.
Additional support may range from some extra help in class, or specific directed help on a one to one basis from our specially trained learning support teachers. We may also work with outside agencies and Local Education Authorities if necessary.
The school also has an Able and Talented register and the Inclusion Coordinator oversees the provision for pupils identified as being particularly able or talented. We believe that more able and talented children also need guidance and benefit from enrichment activities that meet their needs.
If you require further information regarding special educational needs or additional support, please speak to your child’s form teacher in the first instance.
