At Gatehouse, we encourage children to support, work and have fun with their peers from other classes as well as foster a healthy attitude towards competition. This is exemplified by the rationale behind our school House system.
There are four school Houses: Dragon, Phoenix, Sphinx and Unicorn. Your child will be allocated a House when he or she joins. Throughout the year each House will use weekly meetings on Wednesday mornings to discuss thoughts on key issues in the school, organise charity events and support each other in a wide variety of annual events: swimming galas, Art competitions, maths quizzes, sports days, carol singing and poetry reading, music quizzes to name only a few.
Each House has its own House colour: red for Dragons, green for Phoenix, yellow for Sphinx and blue for Unicorns. For sporting events children are expected to wear their house polo top.
Older children are appointed House Captains, with responsibility for organising representatives for each event. All the competitions whether sporting, academic or cultural contribute house points towards the House Shield which is awarded to the winning Captains at the end of year assembly.
