SPECIAL NEEDS

The policy of integration is a fundamental part of Gatehouse.

Gatehouse can usually accommodate pupils whose special needs may not be adequately catered for elsewhere. Our aim is to provide support within the framework of the mainstream academic teaching.

Our special needs department does not operate as a separate unit; rather, support is given right across the curriculum.  Individual tuition is provided, accompanied by very close liaison with all form and subject teachers.

We welcome pupils with a variety of needs, including specific learning difficulties.  We believe that all children should be able to realise their full potential and play a part in the life of the school.
